This release brings together key education, training and apprenticeships datasets, creating a powerful new resource to support evidence-based policymaking in NI. The event aims to promote the dataset, demonstrate its value for understanding education and training pathways, and bring together researchers, policymakers and stakeholders to identify research priorities, data gaps and future development needs.

In December 2026, NISRA plans to release Business Data for Research 2023. This updated dataset will incorporate enhancements informed by researcher and stakeholder feedback, including the addition of: Input-Output and Supply-Use tables; Research and Development Survey data; a ‘good jobs’ flag; and the annual update. Together, these enhancements will significantly extend the analytical capability of the dataset, enabling more detailed and integrated research on business behaviour, supply chains, innovation and job quality.

The Administrative Data Research Centre Northern Ireland (ADRC NI) will focus on progressing the next phase of its research programme, with particular emphasis on data applications, access approvals and the development of new linked-data projects aligned to policy priorities in Northern Ireland. Early activity will include establishing project steering groups, strengthening engagement with data owners and policy stakeholders, and undertaking preliminary analysis as data access is secured. Recruitment to research teams will also be a priority, ensuring ADRC NI has the capacity and expertise needed to deliver its expanding programme of work.

ADRC NI will also establish a new Impact and Outreach team to strengthen stakeholder engagement, public involvement, communications and policy-facing outputs. In September, ADRC NI will host a launch event to mark the new investment period, bringing together the full ADRC NI team to build shared understanding of the programme’s priorities, strengthen collaboration across workstreams and support delivery planning for the year ahead.

ADR NI will host the ADR UK Conference 7-9 December 2027, bringing together the administrative data research community from across the UK and beyond to share insights, exchange ideas and strengthen collaboration across the ADR UK partnership.
