Sure Start Play Data 2010 – 2020
In Northern Ireland, the Sure Start programme supports parents with children under four years old in disadvantaged areas. Sure Start projects deliver services designed to enhance children’s learning, health, and emotional and social development.
To better understand the programme’s impact, ADR NI researchers are working with Sure Start’s Strategic Planning and Performance Group to link 10 years of Sure Start data with NI health records - evaluating the health outcomes of this popular, government-led intervention for the first time.
10 years of Sure Start data (2010 - 2020) will be linked to a range of de-identified health administrative datasets by the Honest Broker Service, including GP registration index, prescription data (i.e., the Enhanced Prescribing Database), emergency department data, death data, deprivation data, peace line data, and urban/rural data.
This newly accessed dataset will, in the first instance, be used to examine trends in Sure Start service use in Northern Ireland over the past decade and associations between Sure Start support and health outcomes.
