ONS
It’s an exciting time for the ONS as the Secure Research Service continues to deliver secure access to a wealth of de-identified, unpublished data for accredited researchers. Alongside this, the ONS continues as the lead delivery partner of the Integrated Data Service. In collaboration with ADR UK, partners across government and the wider research community, the Integrated Data Service is creating a step change in the way that data about our society and economy are made available for vital research and decision making in the UK.
Updates are planned to continue for users of the Secure Research Service regarding the transition to the Integrated Data Service. There is a commitment to host further virtual events, which will inform users of the next steps and important dates.
The ONS aims to foster a collaborative researcher community, and regular engagement activities provide key information and a mechanism to share knowledge and insights. They are also an opportunity to build on existing and new relationships, align collective efforts and strengthen the role of the ONS and the ADR UK partnership.
The in-person ONS Research Capability event returns this year to discuss “Building research capability and community”. It will bring together researchers from across government and academia with key policymakers and stakeholders. Keynote talks and workshops will facilitate knowledge sharing and the exploration of ideas to address research opportunities and challenges. The ONS’ popular online and in-person events aim to create an environment where researchers can be more informed, network, share ideas, and form collaborative partnerships.
The ONS is working to make exciting new ADR UK flagship datasets available for all accredited researchers to access. New datasets include:
-
Ministry of Justice Data First: Cross-Justice System, including data from the offender assessment system
- Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings linked to PAYE and Self-Assessment.
